While we have 3g signal, how about some pics from the 1st day. They are reduced size again and we’ll upload full size ones when we get home.

I thought you might like a few pic from the hike, so here you go!
We’ll upload proper sets to smugmug when we get home.
Sunday: We are running our own sporting event. First we had to hike there
Then the events began with a briefing
We assume the Thunder and lightning is on the way but for now it’s lovely.
Roast chicken for dinner.
The leaders arrived on the Friday to get camp set up
And we even watched the opening ceremony
Dreadful signal on campsite so not much blogging!
All arrived safely. Chicken and rice cooked and eaten. Washing up done!
Now we are watching the Olympic round up on telly.
We are very lucky at The Fifth to have a bunch of teenagers who give up their time to help with the Beavers, Cubs and Scouts.
Before we set off to camp, we got them together and we worked through the first module of their training.
Let’s keep the last post of the year simple.
Thank you to everybody who ran everyday adventure for our young people.
The leaders who turn out each week, who plan and who train to earn qualifications.
The people in the background who build, paint, drill, saw and help us grow.
The paperworkers who let the leaders do the fun stuff while the subs are collected, gift aid completed, accounts audited, finances recorded, waiting lists managed etc.
Thanks to the parents who trust us with their kids and who budget and save to send their kids away with us.
Finally a thank you to our beavers, cubs, scouts and explorers who make The Fifth one of the best groups in the district.
Sick of the rain. Sick sick sick of it! But we dug out the newly refurbished tilleys and had a,play with them.
Everybody now smells of paraffin. Highlights for some of the scouts seemed to be the leadercs use of the words ‘knob’ and ‘prick’. Both are perfect words in context… But they seemed to prompt giggles. Sigh.
Here they are before they set off
What they be like in 2 hrs?
Massive Congratulations to Caitlin and Gina who have spent the last few weeks working towards their Lifesaver Badge (click the link for details of the badge)
