It was the last night for our PLs before making the move up to explorers. They were given a very loud BRAVO and now we’re left looking for six new Patrol Leaders. I’m sure we’ll find some shining examples of scouting brilliance, willing, able, always listening and happy to help… that can’t be too tough, can it?!
And only a little bit late, here’s Jake being given his Chief Scout’s Silver Award. B-R-A-V-O
They wrote out invitations to their parents, they planned the meal, they chose a charity (Cancer Research UK) and they served up a Gourmet Dinner for their parents. They had it all set up and put away again in less than 3 hours – google ‘pop up dining’ to see how hip we are… next thing you know, we’ll be wearing specs with no glass in.

Didn’t they do brilliantly?

Here’s a quick video and we agree with every word of it!

Our Census figures are in and our numbers are looking good.
The census is a snapshot of our membership on the 31st January and although we were slightly down on last year, we’re going to grow again slightly soon.
One thing is obvious, the growth of the group is dependent on the support of our volunteers.
The more adults that we recruit as volunteers, the more young people can enjoy everyday adventure at The Fifth. Tina has joined the beaver team (massive welcome) and that will allow us to take a few more into that section but our big plan has to be to open another beaver colony.
We have 84 beaver-age girls and boys on the waiting list.
They’re unlikely to get a place
That’s enough for at least 3 new colonies locally.Â
Keep an eye out for our recruitment drive or step forward now to help us open a second colony.
We’re also looking for volunteers (regular or occasional) for the scouts and explorers. Both sections are flourishing but more help means more fun and adventure. Please email [email protected] to find out what’s involved.
13 scouts and explorers jumped in the minibus down to Margate for Games Expo East Kent – GEEK 2013.
Hundreds of computer grames from the 70s to right up to the  latest releases. Pinball machines, arcade cabinets handhelds, educational machines, consoles, mobile, handheld and more.  It was all there and we had a brilliant day

We hope that you have a very merry Christmas and here’s a little video from all the scouts and explorers from our 2012 Christmas Card:

We would not be aboe to run without the support of many people and we hope you’ll keep being as wonderful in 2013.
We plucked a game from the internet (clicky for the market traders page) and ran an excellent team building and bonding session for the unit. 5 girls have joined us from guides this month and it was good to break them all down into teams to work together.
The teams had to cut paper shapes and sell them to the quality controllers.
The prices of the goods changed every 2 minutes
And the teams had to judge the right moment to sell
The B team won by a mile. They won bags of chocolates from Phil.
