They had to show their first aid skills
And walk onto the next base… Most made it! And finished in downe scout camp car park.
Making hot choc
The scouts and explorers donned their onesies and spent the day at Keston Marshalling Bases 24&25 of the St Christopher’s Fun Walk.
We were signing cards and giving out water as well as encouraging the walkers on their way. For some of them, we were at the 10-mile marker with only a mile to go.
Rob’s mum passed through our base and for some of us, her t-shirt reminded us why we were there.
Massive well done to everybody involved

Phil Make Fire. Phil Happy.
Here’s our latest bunch of PLs. Ready to lead their patrols and have some fun on the way…
Nick gave them their badges and asked them to help us keeping the patrols on track and paying attention.
B R A V O!
We popped down to Creekside Discovery Centre in Deptford on Saturday to earn the Naturalist Activity Badge.
After an introduction to the centre and its work from Natalie, our guide…
the scouts set off for some mapping of the creek.
Then we pulled on our waders to explore the creek.
We walked up the creek and back down again while Natalie taught us all about the wildlife that lived there.
We finished off with some fishing and caught a Chinese Mitten Crab and a stickleback
Now it’s just fingers crossed that the badges arrive in time to give out this week!
Thanks to Sam and Don for coming on the trip and making it happen.

Some nights take weeks of planning while others happen just because it’s a sunny evening.

It was the last night for our PLs before making the move up to explorers. They were given a very loud BRAVO and now we’re left looking for six new Patrol Leaders. I’m sure we’ll find some shining examples of scouting brilliance, willing, able, always listening and happy to help… that can’t be too tough, can it?!
And only a little bit late, here’s Jake being given his Chief Scout’s Silver Award. B-R-A-V-O
We’re all members of the worldwide family of scouting – over 28 million of us in over 200 countries – and this week we took part in Jambowlree, against scouts across the globe.
By the way, Orpington Palace Superbowl were fantastic. Really helpful staff, Easter eggs for best bowler in each lane and generally brilliant at customer service. Highly recommended by us.
The results have been plugged into the website and now we’re looking forward to seeing how we’ve done. Fingers crossed….
For now, here’s how they did on the night, all with the bumper barriers up apart from our explorer/network team.
There’s a video at the bottom of the page
Odds on to be the best night out of the year and the only way that you will earn your form-readers badge. Make a note to keep the 16th November clear in your diary. No excuse for non-runners!
You will have plenty of notice for buying your tickets & horses as well as the chance to sponsor a race. (But if you’d like to get in early with some race sponsorship, please email [email protected] – we’ll include you in the publicity)
