They set off in the light and came home in the dark.

They sat by the fire for a bit

And now they are watching The Goonies

Beavers Masks

Make a paperbag mask whilst its on your head. Hilarious results and the beavers loved it.

Chil & Rikki wide games

Some of the Cubs took camouflage a bit seriously !

Nearly home time

Well the fires are burning themselves out slowly and the scouts are now playing a quick game before tuck shop and home.

Burning string

Well they’ve done the wood chopping and now their getting ready to light their fires. Who’s going to be first to burn the string??

Wood chopping

Here’s the start of our evening-wood chopping.
The scouts have been split into two teams, so while team 1 are chopping, team 2 are playing dodge ball.

Thunder chopping wood

I looked in on explorers last night and realised that I’ve failed with the current batch of younger explorers who have no idea how to chop wood in the wet to start a fire.

Tonight we taught the scouts how to use axes and saws (or just ran refreshers for some of them.  We’d like to have been outside but it was way to muddy and horrid. Hopefully we’ll ge some fires burning soon.

Next week we finish off the fire safety badge too.
