Subs

Running a scout group is very very expensive and we rely on subs to cover all the basics.

Subs are £48 per term and need to be paid by half term (Friday June 1st) – please pay online if you have a debit or credit card.

All about MyDonate

We have stopped using PayPal for subs and are now using BT MyDonate (a system setup by BT to support charities). They charge only 15p/payment for the service and the Gift Aid is claimed automatically. Please pay with the BT system, it will save us days of work.

There are 2 ways of paying this: Termly or Monthly.  (You need to go to different pages for the different options)

Termly (via the subs page for that term)

Please go to our Summer Subs Page and click donate. Don’t worry, you don’t have to register. just click ‘i’m not registered’ and you can pay your subs immediately.

1) choose the amount

2) confirm that we can claim the gift aid (if you are a UK taxpayer)

3) Add the name of the child in the ‘message to fundraiser’

4) add your details and pay.

Unfortunately, there is no way to avoid your name appearing if you enter a message. If you do not want this, please click anonymous, do not leave a message and email to let us know who you have paid for.

Monthly (via our main BT MyDonate Page)

Please go to our BT Mydonate page and either login or register (if you have never logged in before) – buttons are at the top of the page

Once you are logged in:

1) Click Donate to this charity (on the right hand side of the page)

2) Choose “i would like to make a regular donation” and enter an amount under ‘other’

1 child = £12,
2 children = £24
3 children = £36
4 children = £48

and choose when it should leave your account. The first day should be a date in May.

3) confirm that we can claim the gift aid (if you are a UK taxpayer)

4) add your details and pay.

5) email to confirm your monthly payment and let us know which children it is for.

NB. you can log back in and change this if a child leaves the group. Please let us know to if you make any changes

Financial Support

The group has access to funds both locally and nationally and we encourage parents to talk to a leader if they would like help with the cost of scouting. Some parents prefer to pay in installments while we are able to make sure that other children continue with the group though other sources of funding. Cost should not be a bar to membership – “no child left behind.”

Gift Aid

Gift Aid should be worth nearly £4,000/ year to the 5th (that’s alot of jumble sales) so we are looking to make the process of claiming it as simple as possible. Reconciling all the payments with the taxpayer can take days of work so this system will remove all of that heartache, we will also save a few hundred pounds by not using PayPal

Late subs from previous terms

Late subs should be paid via our main subs page:

1) choose the amount

2) confirm that we can claim the gift aid (if you are a UK taxpayer)

3) Add the name of the child in the ‘message to fundraiser’ (the page is removed at the end of the term)

4) add your details and pay.

Unfortunately, there is no way to avoid your name appearing if you enter a message. If you do not want this, please click anonymous, do not leave a message and email to let us know who you have paid for.

What do we spend the money on?

  • We will spend over £6500 this month on membership fees – these cover the insurance costs for the members.
  • Our buildings insurance goes up massively each year and we’ve just paid nearly £3,000 for that
  • Insuring the minibus costs over £1,000/year and we also have to pay for the servicing asnd parts- it comes to well over £2,000/year
  • In the past few years, the buildings have been repainted, had a new floor, new windows, a new roof, new toilets, a new kitchen, refurbished stores and more. All the work has been done in-house and by volunteers!
  • Then there are utility bills (yikes!), new equipment, leader training and all the other expenses of keeping the 5th afloat.
  • Cool activities for kids… check out our video at the end of this email And don’t forget all our photos at scoutsphotos.com Please try to pay by paypal.

Instructions on where to post a cheque should come to you by email or please send to the hut by cheque, in an envelope marked subs and with your child’s name on the back of the cheque.
